She was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and had trouble, at first, accepting this diagnosis. She was depressed and angry. Once she accepted her diagnosis and got the help she needed, she went from strength to strength!</p>

When his son's disabilities were known, Baba Brian wondered what his future would be. After speaking to the head teacher at a deaf/blind school in Kenya, he asks, "What are these children being prepared into?" Baba Brian answered his own question by establishing the Brian Resource Centre in Kenya, a school that prepares deaf and blind adults for self sufficiency. The future is now bright for Brian and others like him. </p>

Uchenna leads a full life and is a proud, independent graduate and an inspiration to others. Her story is about celebrating her achievements against all odds. </p>

Her story tells of the struggles of finding a school for her child in Kenya and of her own lessons in bringing up and educating her beautiful daughter. Mary offers insights for other parents of deaf and blind children.</p>

Added to this, her sister and her sister's child became her responsibility after her sister's debilitating depression left her unable to work or care for her child. Amanda has albinism and her sight and hearing are very poor. Nomakwezi relates her lessons in learning to be a good mother to Amanda. She advises other parents to stand up and be good parents to their children, irrespective of the way they look or their abilities. </p>

Felizardo regretted the fights he had with her, repaired their relationship and they became good friends--until his sister passed away. She inspired him to devote his life to helping people with visual impairment in Mozambique. </p>
